Welcome Back

When a steakhouse opens in Manhattan, no one blinks.
When a steakhouse opens in Brooklyn, people notice.
They begin to wonder: Is this the one that will vanquish Peter Luger?

DeStefano's Steakhouse could do just that.

Yelp review 12/29/2011

This was actually the second time I've eaten here. My first visit, I had used a Yelp Deal where I received $80 of food for $40. That was a great deal! This time, I was paying full price, but I was trying to impress my date, and I did.

I'll compare this place to the nearby Peter Luger's Steakhouse to start. I'll beg to differ with anyone who tell's me that Luger's sucks or that Luger's is the best and nothing else could compare. Luger's is a great, busy, loud, clubby, steakhouse, and De Stefano's is just as good, only more cosy and much easier to get a weekend reservation. If I were going on a date where I wanted to hear the person sitting 3 feet in front of me, I would prefer De Stefano's. And like I already stated, their porterhouse steak for 2 was awesome. I'd really have to have both steaks (De Stefano's vs. Luger's) in front of me for a bite by bite comparison to see if I could tell the difference, But, as far as I can recall, they're both thick, well charred pieces of meat sitting in that butter juice. De Stefano's doesn't use those red-hot plates that at Luger's the waiters are always warning you about. I didn't miss having to avoid to burn myself on a serving dish or plate. The waitress didn't serve us the pre-cut portions from the porterhouse as they do at P.L's, but that didn't bother me. I can handle serving it myself and my date wasn't shy to help herself to more when the time came.

Our waitress was cute, professional and cheerful. She promptly took our order, served us and didn't come over every two minutes to see if everything was fine; it was. We ordered ala carte. We each had a nice, mixed green house salad as an appetizer, the porterhouse for two, cooked medium, garlic mashed potatoes for 2, tiramisu and homemade panna cotta desserts and a bottle of Pinot Griglio wine. This was more than enough for us to be filled up without being rolled down the street afterward. The bill came to $180 total + tip.

Street parking was not a problem, and there are plenty of places to go afterward for drinks or music. This family owned restaurant is definitely a great alternative to the ultra busy steakhouse a half mile away. I doubt you'll ever be snubbed or overlooked by a waiter or wait a half hour even if you have reservations at this superb Williamsburg steakhouse. Enjoy!

This is without a doubt one of the best steak experiences I've had for a very long time. I believe a steakhouse is always measured by the Porterhouse, which is exactly what we had. The thick cut was juicy, flavorful, savory, with just the right amount of spices. They did a heck of a job dry-aging the beef, which reminded us how simple yet sophisticated a porterhouse should be. My fiancee is not a typical steak/meat lover, and even she gave numerous praises during and after the meal. They also hit it out of the park with the French onion soup. The abundances of gruyère caught me off guard because I simply didn't expect an Italian steakhouse to be so good with this French classic. The service was excellent as well. Nothing to complain.

Nothing Better!!!

I have been to many steakhouses over the years and Destefano's in absolutely the best! From the owners chatting us up about the family history down to the wait staff explaining every dish in detail. Destefano's is a warm old fashion steakhouse. Oh I forgot to mention the succulent filet mignon that I had...to die for!!!! Cut like butter, literally because I used a butter knife. My friend had the veal chop, my first time tasting veal that also was excellent. I plan to try everything on their menu as I will be going back until I do :)

Traditional Italian Steakhouse

A family owned and run business, the service is impeccable, but never snooty or rushed. The place is small - maybe 40 covers, so reservations are a good idea. The first time here, we got lucky and they could seat 5 of us immediately as they had a reservation no-show. The second time we made a reservation. The waitress remembered us and most of our order. It felt like coming home. The food is very, very good. The pear and arugula salad is worth the trip on its own. The steaks, crab cakes, veal chop, and lobster ravioli were all better than expected - and we expected alot.
Skip Peter Luger's and go here instead.
